Made for Mystery

A murder mystery made for the people at your table.

Tell us who's coming, and we'll write the crime around them — a character for every guest, secrets to keep, motives to hide. You print the kit, light the candles, and host the party they'll be talking about for years.

The night itself

It starts as dinner. It ends in accusations.

Somewhere between the first drink and dessert, a crime comes to light — and everyone at the table is a suspect. Your quietest friend starts asking pointed questions. The guest of honor is lying beautifully about where she was at nine o'clock. Alliances form over dinner and collapse by coffee. Everyone has a secret, because we gave everyone a secret.

Then the accusations are made, the solution comes out from under its seal, and the room erupts. About two and a half hours, start to finish — and every clue, twist, and red herring was written around the people you invited.

The name is the promise

What “made for” actually means.

A part for every person

Every guest gets a character written for them, by name — their own dossier, their own secrets, and something to do in every round. Six guests or thirty-two, the cast fits your list exactly.

Your night, your dials

You choose the setting, the tone, and the difficulty — the mystery is shaped to the party you actually want to throw, from a giggly girls' night to a deadly-serious dinner.

Host it your way

Play a character alongside your guests while the solution stays sealed — even from you — or run the room as game master. The kit is built around whichever you choose.

Never the same mystery twice

Every kit is written fresh, for one party: yours. Host again next year with the same friends and it's a brand-new crime — new victim, new secrets, no spoilers.

How it works

Three steps between you and the big reveal.

1

Start with your guest list

Type in who's coming — 6 to 32 players. Deal yourself in or run the room. Every name on the list gets a part.

2

We write it around them

A full cast, a timeline, clues and red herrings — shaped to your people, your headcount, your tone and difficulty. Then every page is checked until the whole plot provably holds together.

3

Print, pour, host

Three print packets: private dossiers for every player, your host script with a clock-time run of show, and the party extras — name tags, place cards, accusation forms, awards. Fold, cut, done.

Straight off the printer

This is what your kit looks like.

Seeing beats believing. Here's one player's private dossier and a single evidence card from a sample kit, exactly as they print. The cast is invented, and the page is cropped and watermarked — enough to show you the goods, not enough to run the night.

Your Story

The Marigold Room hired you to mind the coats. Nobody said anything about minding the secrets. Four years behind that counter and you know this club by its pockets — who carries a second wedding ring, who carries a straight razor, and whose overcoat comes in heavy on the nights the take goes missing.

Your Costume

Your counter apron over your best dress, a pencil tucked behind one ear, and the brass ticket-spike you wear on a ribbon — half tool, half warning.

Your Objectives

  • Get into the office and take back what the manager is holding over you — before the lights go down for the last number.
  • Find out who owns the gray overcoat at the end of rack three, without letting anyone see why you care.

Keep This Secret

You slipped away from the counter at half past nine — the only moment all night the cloakroom stood open and unwatched. If anyone asks, you were restocking hangers. You weren't.

What You Know About the Others

  • Bernice Aldercott settles the band's tab in crisp new bills that smell of lily of the valley — the same scent that hangs in the office upstairs.
  • Freddie Marsh swears he never left the card table, but the ash by the service door is his brand, and the man he keeps steering you away from is the same
Evidence · clue-4note

A cloakroom ticket, torn clean in half. The number matches a coat nobody has claimed — and the handwriting on the stub doesn't match the book.

Trimmed on purpose — a taste, not the night. A real kit prints a dossier like this for every guest, plus the host's script with the solution sealed and the party extras.

The two questions every host asks

You can play. Nobody performs.

“Can I play too, or am I stuck running it?”

You're in the game.

Choose “I'm playing too”and you get a character like everyone else. The murderer stays masked everywhere you'd look, and the solution prints sealed beneath a fold — so you can spend the evening honestly suspecting your own spouse across the table. Rather conduct the chaos? Host as game master instead. Your call, every time.

“Do my guests have to act?”

No scripts. No lines to learn.

Each guest gets a short private dossier — who they are, what they want, what they're hiding — plus a fresh objective every round. They mingle, bluff, and trade secrets in their own words. The shy ones ask questions; the hams chew the scenery. Everyone plays. Nobody performs.

What's in the kit

The whole night, in one kit.

Built for your exact guest list and ready to print the same evening.

Sealed character dossiers

One per player, marked PRIVATE: who they are, what they want, what they're hiding, and the dirt they hold on everybody else. About three pages — a part, not a homework packet. Every player gets an objective every round.

The host's script

Every round, beat by beat, with a clock-time run of show, a prep checklist, and a one-card quick reference. Pacing tips tell you how to read the room. The solution prints sealed below a fold line — upside down — so nobody reads it early. Not even you.

House rules

A dozen straight rules that keep the evening running itself — plus what to do if a guest cancels an hour before.

The invitation

Written in the voice of your setting and ready to send. Dress code included.

The atmosphere guide

A playlist, a menu with drinks to match the setting (and something for the designated drivers), simple food a busy host can actually make, and decor notes that turn a living room into the scene of the crime.

The party extras

Name tags, fold-over place cards, official accusation forms, and award certificates — Super Sleuth, Best Performance, Best Dressed. Cut along the dashed lines and go.

The quality bar

Airtight. Every mystery. No exceptions.

A mystery is a machine: every gear has to mesh. So before your kit reaches you, the finished plot is checked against every promise below, and if even one doesn't hold, it doesn't ship. Not usually. Ever.

We put our money where the mystery is: if you're not happy, you get a full refund.

Straight answers

Do my guests have to act?

No memorizing, no monologues. Each dossier says who you are, what you want, and what to do each round. Shy guests can ask questions and trade gossip; the hams can chew the scenery. Both have a great night.

How long does it take to get my kit?

Building and validating your mystery takes a few minutes — watch it happen. The full kit (dossiers, scripts, printables) is written right after checkout, usually inside ten minutes. Print the same evening.

What if someone cancels at the last minute?

Your host packet includes no-show guidance — which characters absorb cleanly and how to run one “in absentia.” Worse comes to worst, regenerate for the new headcount. It's free to rebuild before you print.

Can I play, or am I stuck hosting?

Have it whichever way you like. Want to run the evening — guiding the rounds, dropping clues with a knowing smile? Host as game master. Want to be in the thick of it, suspecting your own spouse across the dinner table? Pick “I'm playing too”: you get a character like everyone else, the murderer is masked everywhere you look, and the solution prints sealed below a fold line — upside down. The kit reshapes itself around your choice.

Is every mystery really custom — or a template with the names swapped in?

Custom, start to finish. The cast, the crime, the clues, and the false leads are all built for your exact guest list, headcount, and tone, and the finished plot is held to every promise on this page: one answer, fairly earned, with nothing left dangling. That's the standard we stake the refund on: if your mystery doesn't hold together, you get your money back, all of it.

What do I actually need?

A printer, scissors, 6–32 willing friends, and about two and a half hours. The menu, the playlist, the decor notes, the schedule — all in the kit.

Start with your guest list.

Build your mystery now — watch the cast, the crime, and every clue take shape around your people before you pay a dime. Unlock the kit only when you're sure. (The ending stays sealed until party night. Obviously.)
